Going on a Bear Hunt

Making the most of a lovely sunny day we ventured out to Plym Bridge. The children immediately spotted a wide variety of muddy puddles that proved to be too tempting to walk around. The fascination was amazing as they jumped and squelched through the mud, some getting far muddier than others!

There were so many different aspects to explore that we began to act out parts from one of our favourite books, 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. We moved through the squelching mud, made our way through the long grass, went through the forest and even paddled in the shallow water at the edge of the river. The only things that we failed to see were caves and snowstorms but we didn't mind that!

When we got home we re-read 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' and the children talked about the bits they enjoyed when they were outdoors that morning, relating what they were reading to what they had seen in their surrounding environment.
